Expertise and Experiences

I have over 11 years of research experience in civil society financing in Ghana, social accountability in West Africa, and philanthropy in Africa. I am confident in my ability to conduct a comprehensive scoping study and landscape opportunities for community-driven collective action in Ghana.

My multidisciplinary research interests span NGO management and sustainability, civic activism, development cooperation, international aid, and civil society capacity development. As a researcher and independent consultant, I have undertaken various research, knowledge management and consultancy projects across sub-Saharan Africa (including Ghana, Kenya, Burkina Faso, South Africa, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivoire, and Senegal) and Europe (France and Belgium). This diverse background has equipped me with a deep understanding of the complexities and nuances of development work in different contexts. 

In my recent roles, I have focused on strengthening the capacity of civil society organizations (CSOs), localizing development aid, and social mobilization. I have led numerous research projects for prominent organizations such as the West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI), STAR Ghana, Peace Direct, Afrobarometer and Comic Relief, among others. I have coordinated regional convenings and global events for INGOs and grant-making bodies, contributing to significant initiatives to shift power to local actors.

I’m Christian Elongué, a bilingual (ENG-FR) freelance consultant who works across Africa at the intersection of knowledge management, elearning, cultural industries and mentoring. With 8 years of experience in the development sector, I worked with Africa-oriented professionals, brands, companies and civil society organisations to promote quality education, women empowerment and social justice in Africa. 

I’m a Cameroonian by birth, Afropolitan by blood and African by destiny.  I have an extensive and impeccable educational background from the University of Dschang (Cameroon), Senghor (Egypt), Lille (France), Bocconi (Italy); with over 40 professional qualifications in management, entrepreneurship, philanthropy, entrepreneurship, teaching, mentoring and coaching.
