West African 2020 Elections Amid Shrinking Civic space and Covid-19 Pandemic: findings from Ghana, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Niger and Guinea.
I co-supervised a team of researchers for a project on the above title. In this webinar, we are discussing the preliminary research findings with civil society and engage relevant elections stakeholders at the country level such as civil society electoral platforms, electoral institutions, ECOWAS Political Affairs, Peace and Security Directorates, as well as other stakeholders such as UNOWAS – on the impact of the pandemic on citizen participation and overall election legitimacy and civic space in general across the region.
Local Resourcing Community of Practice Learning Sessions for CSOs
The overall objective of this learning and reflection meeting was to cultivate a community of practice and provide a platform for 30 CSOs that have participated in the Change the Game Academy training to share their experiences on their non-traditional responses to resourcing their initiatives and organisations. The series of webinars will also provide an opportunity for the organisations to share their approaches, challenges, and milestones. I presented the research findings of a study on faith-based giving as an alternative funding model that hasn’t been explored enough by CSOs in Ghana and in Africa.

L’atelier a offert une plate-forme aux participants présents pour discuter de la répression croissante de l’espace civique et pour examiner d’autres moyens de s’engager efficacement auprès des militants et des mouvements sociaux.

WACSI 2018 Highlights
2018 was the first year of the Institute’s new strategy cycle (2018–2022). That year, significant progress was made in amplifying and raising awareness about the sustainability challenges of civil society organisations and the broad sector in West Africa. Peut-on utiliser Wikipédia dans un cadre scolaire?
Wikipédia est très connue des élèves et donc utilisée très souvent pour leurs travaux scolaires. Leur manque de recul, voire d’esprit critique, est souvent regretté par les enseignants. Dans cette interview, je souligne cependant l’intérêt pédagogique de la démarche collaborative de l’encyclopédie, dès lors que les élèves prennent en charge les protocoles d’écriture qu’elle exige. La production d’articles les conduit alors à questionner et assumer la responsabilité d’une validation en situation de communication réelle.
